How DBT works at Diip

1

Initial consultation

50 min

Meet a DBT therapist to discuss your situation, goals, and whether DBT is the right fit. We'll explain how the program works and answer questions.

2

Weekly skills group

120 min

Join a small cohort co-led by two facilitators. Each module covers a core DBT skill — mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, or interpersonal effectiveness.

3

Individual therapy

60 min

A weekly 1:1 session with your therapist to apply skills to your life, work through specific challenges, and track progress.

4

Monthly progress review

Together with your therapist, review what's working, what to adjust, and your next set of goals.

Most clients enroll in both the weekly group and 1:1 therapy. You can choose either alone if recommended by your therapist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to join both the group and 1:1 therapy?

Most clients do both — the group teaches skills and 1:1 sessions help you apply them to your life. Some clients join only the group or only 1:1 based on their therapist's recommendation. We'll discuss the right plan in your initial consultation.

How long does the program take?

DBT typically runs in 6-month modules covering all four core skills. Many clients stay for a full year or longer. You can pause or end membership anytime — there's no fixed contract.

What does the monthly pack cost?

The monthly pack bundles your weekly group classes and 1:1 sessions for the month at 15% off list price. You'll see exact pricing during enrollment based on how many of each session type you'd like.

What if I miss a group session?

Group sessions can't be rescheduled individually since they're cohort-based. If you let staff know in advance, your therapist will catch you up on the skill content in your next 1:1 session.

Is DBT only for borderline personality disorder?

No — DBT was originally developed for BPD but is now used for many concerns involving emotional intensity, including PTSD, eating disorders, substance use, and chronic suicidality. Anyone struggling with overwhelming emotions can benefit.
